Showing Up at Someone's Apartment

I had been dating Sarah off and on for about a month. I did not feel that the relationship was going to be serious. We talked about this and I thought that everything was ok. I went back to my dorm, took a shower, and went to bed. I woke up to find Sarah standing in my room. She wanted a more serious relationship and felt that she had more to say. Someone had propped open the back door and Sarah was able to walk into the building. My roommates were going in and out to the kitchen and let her into the apartment itself. I was afraid and angry. Sarah was there uninvited and I was alone in my room. I think she was trying to intimidate me, but I’m not sure how it was supposed to make me want to be in a serious relationship with her.

Stalking

Dating someone can be exciting and fun, but sometimes it can become scary or dangerous. If someone you are dating is not interested in a serious relationship, it is okay to feel disappointed about it. However, you have to accept their decision and agency in not wanting something serious. Going to someone’s residence and entering their space without permission is a form of stalking, and violates Section XIII.E.4.f of Title IX.
